Micro-Roasters Promoting a Community of Coffee

The move to our new home and the addition of our second daughter may have signalled the end of the the Sustainable Cup. We apologize for leaving you without your weekly "fix", and we'll be sure to let you know if things change. Thanks for your support and we wish you all the best.
Peace and blessings to all.

South Asia Earthquake & Tsunami
Information on the tragedy in South Asia

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by the earthquake and tsunami in South Asia - especially our coffee farming partners in the Gayo Organic Coffee Farmers Association (PPKGO) in the Aceh region of Sumatra. The devastation in Aceh is massive as the epicenter of the earthquake occurred just 100 miles offshore. There was not only coastal destruction of the resultant tsunami, but also significant damage to buildings and infrastructure due to the largest earthquake in 40 years. In addition, the ongoing conflict between the separatist movement and the Indonesian Government has left the province ill-prepared to deal with an emergency situation of this magnitude. Since the breakdown of the peace process in May of 2003, Aceh has essentially been under martial law with a ban on foreign journalists and NGOs. Thankfully the ban was lifted and the battling parties have agreed to a cease fire as they attempt to deal with this massive tragedy.
